boom.

blerg.

I feel pretty overwhelmed today.  Tonight.  Whatever.

I feel like I need to zone out, but then I feel like I should maybe instead focus on something, and then I feel like focusing on something would be wrong so maybe I should …I dunno…do something else.

I know it’s all going to be ok, and that I’m going to be able to finish everything I need to.

But feeling and knowing are too often very different things.

It really bothers me that of the top 25 most downloaded worship charts, the majority of them haven’t changed in a couple of years.  Even a lot of the songs that are “working” in churches across the country are from the same list of 10-15 songs.
Where is the diversity?  Why is it that we can all recommend 15 different bands, representing different styles, but we can only come up with the same 15 worship bands/songs/styles?
I’m trying to do something about this.  I hope it works.  I’ll write more about it soon.

Things that are awesome.

  1. BookBook (for iPad)
  2. Instax 210
  3. Helveticards
  4. Strumstick
  5. Compass (for iPad)

I’d like to have these for my 28th year of life which, interestingly enough, is becoming quite daunting.

Bikes for sale.

[Update: All the bikes are spoken for. Thanks for the help!]

I came home to find a note on my door informing me that they were cleaning out our apartments storage/basement, and that if it doesn’t fit in our storage we have to get ride of it.

So that means my small fleet of bicycles needs to go. ASAP. As in, tonight or tomorrow.

So here’s what I’ve got:

  • $20 - Huffy Beach Cruiser - Blue, girls. Decent shape. (Definitely rideable.)
  • $30 - Murray cruiser/townie - Rust/Orange, boys. Decent shape. (Definitely rideable.)
  • $50 - Schwinn World Road bike - White, boys.  HUGE FRAME - I think 65cm (I’m 6’2 and it’s almost too big for me.) Decent shape (Shifter cables need replaced and probably new tires.)
  • $75 - Raleigh Road bike - Brown, boys. Great shape (I ride it 3-4 days a week.)

Let me know if you’re interested in any of these, even if you want to negotiate a price or payment.

Today.

Today is a new day; a fresh start. A day to make good on the promises I’ve been telling myself and others. To start loving more and judging less. To listen more than I talk. To wait patiently more than I jump to conclusions. To lose 30 minutes of sleep (that didn’t make me feel less tired anyway) so that I can read and enjoy the morning birds. To make sure my wife knows that she’s super hot. To look people in the eyes. To eat healthier. To write a third chapter and the next song. To be honest. To do my chores before the deadline and without reminder. To learn how to play the guitar better (and all those other instruments I’ve picked up along the way.) To discover new ways to serve my community and become part of it’s life.

I’m excited for today and the possibilities it holds, but I’m also very aware that I will not actually accomplish most of those things. Actually, I will probably do quite the opposite of most of them.

But today I’m not afraid to admit my goals and acknowledge the risk of failure. Because what I don’t succeed at today, I’m gonna try again tomorrow.

I’m fairly confident that success can’t be defined by a certain measurement across the board for you and for me. I think success is forward movement. One step. Growth is the goal, and any growth is growth.

Clem Snide I don’t like so much, but Eef Barzelay’s solo stuff is pretty rad, as proven by this fantastic ukulele rendition of one of Journey’s greatest hits. (If you want an album of his, check out “Bitter Honey”)

I got a little bored and a little excited, so boom.
